OGLY Dmitry
Dmytro was born on June 3, 1992, in the village of Pryzove in Dnipropetrovsk region. He began his career after graduating from the Lozova Vocational College, where he trained as a gas-electric welder. In July 2012, he joined the "iron family," choosing the Lozova Locomotive Depot as his workplace.
Throughout his 13 years working on the railway, Dmytro Stanislavovych proved himself to be a highly skilled mechanic for rolling stock and a masterful welder. Colleagues remember him as a sincere, polite, and exceptionally conscientious person. He always actively participated in the life of the team, enthusiastically engaging in sports competitions, as he loved football above all. Dmytro was someone you could rely on in any situation.
His patriotism was not just words: in 2017, Dmytro chose the path of a warrior by signing a contract for military service. With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Senior Sergeant Ohly, known among his comrades by the call sign "Artist," became a legend in his unit. As the chief sergeant of the 1st Self-Propelled Artillery Battery (military unit A0501), he repeatedly demonstrated extraordinary courage, leading units out of encirclement and saving the lives of his comrades in the most difficult moments.
For his heroism and dedication, Dmytro was awarded high honors: the badge "Best Sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" (2023) and the "Defender of the Fatherland" medal (2024).
The life of the defender was cut short on October 30, 2025, while performing a combat mission near the settlement of Vidradne in his native Dnipropetrovsk region. Dmytro remained true to his oath until his last breath, being a support not only for the army but also for his family.
The hero is survived by his wife and four-year-old son, for whom his father will always be an example of true courage.
The team of the Lozova Locomotive Depot, a branch of the "Locomotive Company" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia," deeply mourns the loss of their colleague. We bow our heads in memory of Dmytro—a railway worker by profession and a hero by calling. Glory to the brave defender of Ukraine!
