Oleg SHAPOVALOV
Oleg was born on April 14, 1979, in the city of Podilsk (formerly Kotovsk) in the Odesa region. After graduating from school No. 6, he enrolled in the Odesa Railway Transport Technical School in 2000, marking the beginning of his long professional journey.
Oleg dedicated most of his life to the railway, rising from an ordinary worker to the head of the wagon technical service point (PTS) at the Podilsk station.
Oleg Mykolayovych Shapovalov, head of the wagon technical service point at the Podilsk station, was killed on January 5, 2026, while defending his homeland from Russian aggression. His life was cut short during a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia direction, near the settlement of Stepnohirs'k. He was 46 years old.
Colleagues remember him as a professional who earned deserved respect and authority. He was a leader who could unite the team and took responsibility during the most challenging moments.
In civilian life, Oleg was an active person, passionate about sports, and always found time for self-improvement. He was a caring son and brother, a reliable support for his family. Together with his wife Victoria, they raised their only son Yevhen, built plans, and dreamed of a happy future in a free country. The war ruthlessly shattered these dreams, but the memory of his bravery will live on.
Oleg is survived by his wife Victoria and son Yevhen.
The team of the station service of the regional branch "Odesa Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows their heads in profound sorrow and deep respect for Oleg Shapovalov. Our colleague, who was an exemplary railway worker and became an unyielding Warrior, gave the most precious thing for our freedom. His professionalism, leadership qualities, and heroic deed will forever be etched in the history of our railway. Eternal glory and honor to the Hero!
