Olha OCHKAS
Olha was born in the village of Preobrazhenka in the Zaporizhzhia region. She dedicated 24 years of her life to the railway. Starting as a cleaner in 1999, Olha worked as a dispatcher at the Orikhivska railway station from 2004.
44-year-old Olha Ochkас and her partner Vitaliy Yushko tragically lost their lives on July 9, 2023, during a shelling of the city of Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia. The couple died while volunteering at the Resilience Point as a result of an enemy FAB-1500 aerial bomb hitting the school building.
Colleagues remember Olha as an incredible, sincere, wonderful person and specialist. Together with Vitaliy, who was also her partner, they dedicated all their free time to volunteering since the beginning of the war. On the day of the tragedy, they were helping at the Resilience Point: Olha was preparing bandaging materials when the bomb struck.
Olha and Vitaliy are buried together in Preobrazhenka.
This cruel loss led to a series of tragedies in the family: two months later, Vitaliy's father passed away, and six months after that, Olha's mother (who also worked as a dispatcher at the Orikhivska station) died.
They left behind a 9-year-old son, Artem, and Olha's 25-year-old daughter from her first marriage, Kateryna.
The staff of the Orikhivska station of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows their heads in sorrow in memory of Olha Ochkас. We remember and will not forgive!
