Sergiy HARBUZOV

Куп’янська дільниця з капітального, поточного ремонту та контролю за технічним утриманням будівель і споруд
30.06.1973 – 23.08.2024

Sergiy Harbuzov was born in the village of Dvorychna, Kharkiv region. In 1996, he graduated from the National Aerospace University named after M. Ye. Zhukovsky, earning a degree as a mechanical engineer. After graduating, he began working at the 4th Kupiansk Civil Engineering Distance of the Southern Railway. Over 27 years in the railway industry, he progressed from a 4th category pipefitter to the head of the Kupiansk section for capital and current repairs, as well as technical maintenance of buildings and structures.

Colleagues remembered Sergiy as a qualified worker who constantly improved his professional skills, always had his own opinion, and defended it convincingly. He was respected and held in high regard within the team, contributing many rationalization proposals for saving the enterprise's energy resources. Sergiy was repeatedly recognized for his participation in the reconstruction of the Vovchansk station, the construction and commissioning of the Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi station complex, and the electrification of the Poltava-Krasnohrad-Lozova section. He also participated in restoration work at the Rubizhne and Lysychansk stations. He held the title of "Honored Railway Worker."

After the de-occupation of the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi in September 2022, Sergiy was one of the first to return home and, together with his team, began restoring the village's water supply and sewage systems. He had to work under shelling the entire time.

51-year-old Sergiy Harbuzov died on August 23, 2024, while at work. He was caught in enemy shelling while overseeing repair work on the pumping equipment of the sewage pumping station No. 2 in the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi.

In his free time, Sergiy enjoyed playing football and participated in sports competitions among local railway enterprises. His biggest dream was to build a small cozy house with a greenhouse for his family. He purchased a plot of land in Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi for this purpose, but he did not have the time to realize this dream.

His wife recalls: "Sergiy was a loving husband and father, a very focused and professional person. We have lost a dear person – a husband and father."

Sergiy is survived by his wife, two sons, mother, and mother-in-law.

The team of the Kupiansk section for capital and current repairs, as well as technical maintenance of buildings and structures, is deeply saddened by this irreparable loss and expresses sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Sergiy Harbuzov. Our colleague gave his life while restoring the railway infrastructure under enemy fire and will forever remain in our hearts as an example of professionalism and courage. Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
