Serhiy VASYLCHUK

Serhiy Mykolayovych was born in the village of Komsomolske (now Makhnivka) in the Vinnytsia region. His life was an example of hard work, honesty, and boundless devotion to his family and homeland.

After obtaining a profession as a mechanizer at the Berdychiv vocational school and completing his military service, Serhiy worked as a lathe operator, and in 2000, he tied his fate to the railway. For 26 years and 4 months, he tirelessly worked in the production unit of the Koziatyn track distance of the regional branch "South-Western Railway." Having started as a track installer, in 2022 he took on the responsible position of a released foreman for current maintenance and repair of tracks and artificial structures of the 6th category. Colleagues remember him as a calm, intelligent, balanced, and extremely responsible person. Serhiy Mykolayovych had a keen sense of justice, never refused to help, and quickly earned deep respect within the team.

He was a person with a rich soul: he loved music, knew the biographies of numerous artists, and could passionately talk for hours about their creative journeys. His heart found peace while fishing and working with his bees. However, the greatest value in Serhiy's life was his family, and home always remained a fortress of tranquility, warmth, and happiness.

On the second day of the full-scale invasion, February 25, 2022, Serhiy Mykolayovych joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect the peace of his loved ones and the sovereignty of the state.

On April 20, 2023, during the performance of his military duty in the area of the settlement of Nevelske in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region, Serhiy's unit suffered a heavy blow due to the enemy's assault actions. For three long years, the warrior was considered missing in action. His family and colleagues held onto hope, which was shattered on May 27, 2026, when the official death certificate confirmed that the Hero had died in that fierce battle, defending Ukraine until his last breath.

His loving wife, children, and grandchildren are left without a husband, father, and grandfather. The bright memory of a son and brother will forever live in the hearts of his mother and sister.

The team of the production unit of the Koziatyn track distance of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Serhiy Vasyliuk. We bow our heads in deep sorrow together with you. The feat of our colleague, who gave his life for the peaceful future of Ukraine, will never be forgotten.
