SHPALYAR Serhiy

Serhiy began his journey in the railway industry in 2016. For ten years, he was an integral part of our "railway family," working as a trackman in the Pokrovsk track maintenance unit of the Donetsk Railway. Colleagues knew him as a professional whose responsibility and initiative ensured the safety of the tracks, while his friendliness and genuine smile warmed the team during the toughest shifts.

Since May 2022, Serhiy exchanged his railway uniform for military attire, stepping up to defend his homeland. As a rifleman in the 1st Battalion of military unit A7036, he bravely defended Ukrainian land. On February 24, 2026, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Yegorivka in Zaporizhzhia, Serhiy Shpalayar gave the most precious thing—his life.

Serhiy is survived by his wife and mother. We bow our heads before the family of the Hero. May the memory of him be a source of strength for you, and his feat an eternal reminder of the price of our freedom.
