Znamenka Locomotive Depot
13.04.1976 – 23.04.2025

Valerii was born in the city of Znamianka, Kirovohrad region. His professional journey was inextricably linked to the railway, to which he dedicated 23 years of diligent work. After obtaining a degree in electromechanics from the Kremenchuk Railway Transport Technical School, he joined the Znamianka Repair Wagon Depot in 2002.

He began his career as an electric gas welder, where he proved himself to be a true master of his craft.

Through constant skill improvement, in 2011 he took on the role of foreman of the wheel-roller section.

Colleagues remember Valerii as an exceptionally caring, kind, and attentive leader. He was always cheerful and smiling, ready to support anyone in need of help.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Valerii did not remain on the sidelines. On March 4, 2022, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For over two years, he bravely defended the peace of Ukrainian cities until he fought his last battle in April 2024.

Valerii Stanislavovych Slukhai, a foreman at the repair wagon depot and a selfless defender of Ukraine, gave his life for the freedom of our state. Since April 23, 2024, he had been considered missing in action while performing a combat mission. A long year of hope and searches ended with tragic news — Valerii Stanislavovych was killed in battle, fulfilling his duty to his homeland until the end. He was 49 years old.

For Valerii, family was the highest value. He was a loving husband and a caring father who dreamed above all of a peaceful future for his children.

Valerii Stanislavovych is survived by his wife and two daughters — aged 23 and 12.

The team of the "Znamianka Repair Wagon Depot" production unit of the "UZ Vagon-Service" branch bows their heads in deep sorrow and endless gratitude in memory of their colleague. We have lost a true professional and a bright person, whose smile will forever remain in our hearts. His courage, dedication, and great sacrifice will be etched in the history of our railway. Eternal memory and honor to the Hero!
