Vasyl CHERNIKOV
Vasyl was born in Kryvyi Rih. He graduated from the Kryvyi Rih Polytechnic College. He was a continuation of a great railway dynasty (his wife Svitlana and daughter Yuliia were also railway workers) and dedicated 24 years of his life to the railway. He worked as a laborer at the Kryvyi Rih operational wagon depot and previously served as a wagon inspector and repairman.

In October 2018, Vasyl Chernikov signed a contract to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a gunner in a tank platoon. Even during his service, he kept in touch with colleagues and showed interest in production news. He was awarded the badge "For Exemplary Service" and "For Merits to the City" of the III degree.
52-year-old Junior Sergeant Vasyl Chernikov was killed on August 29, 2022, near the village of Petrivka in the Donetsk region as a result of an enemy shell hitting his tank.
Vasyl is survived by his wife Svitlana Ivanivna and daughters: Yuliia and Viktoriia.
The team at the Kryvyi Rih operational wagon depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" remembers their colleague. His dedication to the Motherland and heroic death in battle is an example of true courage and eternal gratitude from railway workers. Eternal memory and honor!
