Viktor Yakymets
Viktor was born in the village of Chervonohryhorivka in the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region. He dedicated 27 years to working on the railway, starting as a trackman in 1995. Since 2014, he worked as a 5th-grade lumberjack in the Kryvyi Rih protective forestry unit.
Viktor was also a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). He was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine on December 2, 2023.
Viktor Yakymets died on February 25, 2024, in the Pokrovsk direction. For a long time, he was considered missing in action, and only on April 16, 2025, did his family receive a medical certificate of death.
Colleagues remember him as a good, energetic, reliable person who was easy to communicate with. His sister Olena confirmed that she always felt "like behind a stone wall" with her brother, who consistently acted responsibly.
Viktor is survived by his mother, common-law wife, and daughter.
