Viktor Zahrobskiy
Viktor Anatoliyovych Zahrobskiy, a highly qualified railway machine master and brave defender who was among the first to stand up for his homeland, will forever remain in the annals of the heroes of the "iron family." After many years of uncertainty, Viktor was officially declared deceased in November 2025. His heart stopped beating in May 2022 while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk region.
Viktor was born on June 26, 1970, in the village of Yuriyevka in Vinnytsia region. He was a dedicated professional who devoted 21 years of his life to the railway, rising from a young specialist to a top-grade locomotive driver.
Viktor Anatoliyovych joined the railway team in 2005. His professional growth was the result of hard work and a constant desire for new knowledge.
Starting as a 5th-grade locomotive driver, he mastered the most complex machinery over the years. Since 2017, he worked on the AFM-2000 No. 001 track stabilization and leveling machine.
Colleagues from the Kyiv Center for Track Work Mechanization remember him as an exceptionally disciplined and eager-to-learn employee. He never hesitated to learn from his seniors and was always ready to help younger colleagues. His friendliness and cheerful disposition made him the soul of the team.
When the full-scale invasion began, Viktor did not wait for a summons. On February 25, 2022, just two days into the great war, he went to the Kozyatyn military enlistment office.
Viktor became a machine gunner in the operational-tactical group "East."
In May 2022, during fierce battles in Donetsk region, communication with him was lost. For over three years, his family lived in hope while searches and legal confirmations of his fate continued. Only in November 2025 did a court ruling finally confirm the price of his heroism.
Viktor was a true patriot, and he passed this flame of love for Ukraine to his son.
The Hero is survived by his wife and son. Today, his son continues his father's legacy, defending our state in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is the highest tribute to Viktor's memory—when his son stands guard over the same values for which his father gave his life.
The team of the Production Structural Unit "Kyiv Center for Track Work Mechanization" of the CRKM branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses its deepest condolences to Viktor Zahrobskiy's family. We have lost not only a first-class specialist of the 6th grade but also a person of great spirit, whose feat brought us closer to victory.
Eternal memory to the Hero! Glory to Ukraine!
