Yevhen Snarskyi
The Kryvyi Rih railway community and all of Ukraine have lost a rare talent, a professional, a brave reconnaissance warrior, an optimist with a big heart, and a loving father. Yevhen was born on February 3, 1987, in the industrial Kryvyi Rih region, where the very earth shapes character and intertwines destinies with steel and railways.
Yevhen began his career as a driver at the Northern Mining and Processing Plant, but later found his true calling. After mastering his profession at the Dnipropetrovsk State Institute of Technical Education, in September 2008, he joined the Kryvyi Rih Electric Supply Distance of the regional branch "Dniprovsk Railway" as an electric network installer in the Rydyivskyi district.
Colleagues remember Yevhen as a "God-given climber." Without the slightest fear, like a spider-man, he moved along the contact wire at great heights, promptly eliminating any malfunctions. Eager to develop, he graduated from the Terniv Technical School and the Dnipropetrovsk Vocational School, worked as a locomotive assistant, and later as a motorcar driver, becoming a versatile and indispensable specialist who dedicated almost 20 years of his life to the railway. Yevhen was the soul of the team, an incorrigible optimist whose sharp humor always lightened the heaviest work shifts.
Yevhen Viktorovych had a keen sense of justice and solid combat experience: from 2014 to 2015, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation, defending Mariupol. When the enemy launched a full-scale war in 2022, he knew exactly where he needed to be. In October 2022, Yevhen donned military uniform once again. He endured the hell of Avdiivka and fought in the Donetsk and Sumy directions.
For his exceptional courage and dedication to his homeland, the warrior was awarded the Presidential Award of Ukraine "For the Defense of Ukraine" (August 2022), the medal of the 129th Territorial Defense Brigade "Steel Hearts Brigade" (December 2024), and was nominated for the Minister of Defense of Ukraine's award "For Injury" after sustaining serious injuries in the summer of 2024, but returned to duty immediately after recovery. The Kryvyi Rih City Council paid tribute to the fallen hero and posthumously awarded Yevhen Snarsky the badge "For Merits to the City" of the III degree in July 2026. The award was received by his wife, Kateryna.
In January 2025, during complex combat missions in the course of the Kursk operation, communication with the warrior was lost, and he was declared missing in action. For a year and a half, family, friends, and colleagues held onto the fragile hope for a miracle. However, in July 2026, the terrible confirmation of his death shattered all hopes— the Hero fell in January 2025, holding the shield over his homeland until his last breath.
For his family, Yevhen was a reliable wall and a source of boundless care and warmth. His loving wife Kateryna and daughter Elvira are left without him. His father, brother, and sister share the indescribable pain of loss.
The team of the Kryvyi Rih Electric Supply Distance of the regional branch "Dniprovsk Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses its deepest and sincerest condolences to the family, loved ones, and comrades of Yevhen Snarsky. We bow our heads in memory of our brave "climber" and steel Defender. His feat for the freedom of Ukraine will live on for generations.
Eternal glory to our Hero!
