Yuriy Dashyn
Yuriy was born in the city of Murmansk. He graduated from the Mykolaiv Railway Transport Technical School. He began his career on the railway in 2003 as a trackman. In October 2008, he started working as an assistant locomotive engineer at the Khrystynivka Locomotive Depot, to which he dedicated his entire subsequent working life. Overall, his railway service lasted 22 years.
Colleagues remember Yuriy as a responsible and disciplined worker who diligently and effectively fulfilled his duties. The greatest value in his life was his family—he was a caring and loving father.
Yuriy, the assistant locomotive engineer, was killed on October 9, 2024, while performing a combat mission near the village of Berestove in the Kupiansk district of the Kharkiv region as a result of artillery shelling. Yuriy died defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, demonstrating resilience and courage.
The Hero is survived by his wife, Tetiana, son Arsenii, and daughter Sofia.
The team at the Khrystynivka Locomotive Depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows their heads in profound sorrow and deep respect for Yuriy. Our assistant locomotive engineer, who was a caring father and responsible worker, heroically fell in Kharkiv region. His resilience, courage, and parental sacrifice will remain a model of dignity.
