Yuriy Savostin
Yuriy Savostin was born in the city of Pervomaisk, Luhansk region. In 2013, he graduated from the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute" and moved to the city of Lyman after the events of 2014.
He began his work on the railway in December 2016 as a locksmith, and just six months later, in May 2017, he transitioned to the position of assistant locomotive driver at the Lyman locomotive depot, where he worked diligently and responsibly.
On June 29, 2024, Yuriy joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the integrity and independence of Ukraine. He served as the head of the planning group - deputy chief of staff of the 1st mechanized battalion.
Lieutenant Yuriy Valeriyovych Savostin, assistant locomotive driver, was killed on May 7, 2025, while performing a combat mission during a battle with the enemy in the vicinity of the settlement of Volodymyrivka in the Shakhiv community of the Pokrovsk district in Donetsk region.
The Defender is survived by his wife, young daughter, parents, and brother.
The team at the Lyman locomotive depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows their heads with indescribable pain and deep respect for Yuriy Savostin. His courage, dedication to the Motherland, and great sacrifice will forever illuminate our path to victory. Glory to our Hero!
