Hryhoriy TROYAN
Hryhoriy Troyan was born in the town of Velyka Oleksandrivka in the Kherson region. In 2012, he began working on the railway as a trackman and later became a foreman (dismissed) for the current maintenance and repair of tracks and artificial structures of the Kherson track distance of the Odesa railway.
In June 2022, he became a volunteer in the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, and in August of the same year, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Hryhoriy served as a squad commander and deputy platoon commander in the "AREY" battalion, constantly stationed in the combat zone.
For his courage and bravery, Hryhoriy was awarded the medals "For Courage in Battle," "For Sacrifice of Blood in the Fight for Ukraine," the badge of the "AREY" battalion, and the honorary badge "Golden Cross" by the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
40-year-old Junior Sergeant Hryhoriy Troyan was killed on May 29, 2024, during a firefight with the enemy in the village of Tykhe in the Kharkiv region.
Friends and colleagues knew Hryhoriy as a reliable friend. "We are proud of our Hero, his resilience and heroism, and we believe he deserves the highest honor and gratitude from the people. He gave the most precious thing—his life—for us, for a free and independent Ukraine. His family lost the best son, brother, loving husband, and father," wrote his wife, Lydia, in a petition for Hryhoriy to be posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
Hryhoriy is survived by his wife and two daughters—Anastasia and Oksana.
