Yana SHPAKOVA
On October 29, as a result of a Russian strike on the railway station in Dnipro, our colleague Yana Volodymyrivna Shpakova, an administrator of the children's space at the Dnipro-Glavny station branch of the "Vokzalna Company," lost her life. She was only 32 years old.
Yana dedicated nearly 13 years of her life to the railway. During this time, she became part of a large railway family, helping people every day and caring for passengers.
For many years, Yana worked in railway ticket sales. Later, her love for children led her to the children's space at the station. There, she could fulfill her calling, providing children with attention, care, and a sense of comfort even amid the hustle and bustle of a large station.
This was her professional journey: from assisting passengers on their travels to providing special care for the youngest travelers.
On October 29, Yana found herself once again where she was needed by people.
When danger arose from the sky and it was necessary to help passengers arriving in Dnipro to leave the dangerous area and reach shelter as quickly as possible, Yana joined other station employees. She did not stand aside but, together with her colleagues, helped people during the evacuation.
That day, the Russian strike cut her life short.
Yana left behind not only years of diligent work on the railway. The greatest loss for her family is the irreplaceable person she was—a daughter, sister, and mother who raised her 15-year-old daughter Myroslava on her own. The girl had so many more days ahead to share with her mother, conversations, hugs, support, and dreams fulfilled. Now, the family is experiencing a pain that is hard to put into words.
Yana is survived by her daughter Myroslava, her parents, and her sister, who also works at the Dnipro-Glavny station. For them, this loss is a personal pain that cannot be measured in words. For all of us, it is an irreparable loss of a colleague, a part of our railway family.
We bow our heads in memory of Yana Shpakova. We will remember her as a person who dedicated years of her life to the railway, found her calling in caring for children, and in her last moments was by the side of those in need of help.
Ukrzaliznytsia has lost an employee. The family has lost a mother and daughter. Myroslava has lost her dearest person—her mother.
We express our sincere condolences to Yana's daughter, her parents, sister, relatives, friends, and all who knew, loved, and worked alongside her.
In this unimaginably difficult time, we share your pain. May there be people around you who are ready to support, help, and share the burden of this loss.
Her life was cut short, but the memory of her, her kindness, care, and dedication to people will remain with us.
We mourn together with the family. We share the pain of everyone who knew Yana.
May Yana Shpakova's memory be eternal.
