Maksym Tereshchenko
Maksym was born and lived in the city of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region. He was a trained chef and pastry chef, working in this field for nearly three years. In March 2018, he began working on the railway as a trackman in the Nizhyn track division.
Maksym was an experienced soldier: he served in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) since 2014 and from 2019 to 2021, he served under contract. On March 29, 2022, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving as a shooter.
The 35-year-old soldier Maksym Tereshchenko, with the call sign "Mukhа," was severely wounded on January 3, 2023, during a mortar shelling near the city of Soledar in the Donetsk region. He passed away in a hospital in Dnipro on January 7, 2023.
Those close to Maksym remember him as a calm and kind person, a hardworking and loving father and husband. He loved to cook delicious meals, was passionate about football, and always greeted people with, "Hello, family!" His wife, Svitlana, emphasized that he "fulfilled his duty to defend his country with honor."
In honor of Maksym, a memorial plaque has been unveiled at Nizhyn Gymnasium No. 5. The defender was laid to rest at the Alley of Glory in Nizhyn.
His wife Svitlana is left without a husband, three minor children without a father, and his parents and brother without a son and brother.
The team of the Nizhyn track division of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns with unspeakable sorrow and pride for their colleague. His dedication to the homeland, hard work, and the immense loss to his "Family" is our eternal duty to remember the price paid for freedom. Eternal memory and glory to the Hero!
