Oleksandr Artemchuk
For many passengers, the railway begins with the comfort of a carriage and the friendly gaze of a conductor. For over 17 years, Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Artemchuk provided this warmth to people, traveling thousands of kilometers to the sound of clattering wheels. But when the enemy stepped onto his native land, he unhesitatingly exchanged civilian tracks for the fiery roads of the front.
Oleksandr grew up in the renowned railway town of Koziatyn in Vinnytsia region. Here, after graduating from a vocational school, he chose the path of a railway worker. He dedicated his career to the Wagon Division of the Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station, a branch of the "Passenger Company" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." His colleagues knew him as a person with an exceptionally sincere soul and remarkable diligence—a reliable coworker whose kind words always inspired others.
On July 14, 2024, Oleksandr Volodymyrovych joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving as an operator in a mechanized company. On September 15, 2024, during a fierce battle in Donetsk region, he lost communication while under enemy artillery fire. The search and painful waiting lasted for almost a year and a half. Only at the beginning of 2026, through complex identification, the hardest truth was confirmed: Oleksandr had died on that fateful September day, remaining true to his oath until his last breath.
In civilian life, he was a gentle, caring father and a loving son, for whom family was the highest value.
With deep sorrow in our hearts and boundless gratitude, the team of the Wagon Division at the Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station and the entire passenger company of Ukrzaliznytsia express their condolences to the family, friends, and comrades of Oleksandr Artemchuk.
May the earth rest lightly upon the Defender, and may the memory of his bright soul live on in our hearts.
