Petro TSYHANKOV
Petro Tsygankov was born in the village of Synytsyne in the Republic of Crimea. In 2009, he began working on the railway as a tiler. His mother, Lyudmyla, had already been working as a painter in that team for over 20 years. Petro was welcomed well at work, and his colleagues helped him master his profession.
In November 2015, Petro was called up for military service. As a junior sergeant, he served until 2016, after which he returned to work and continued pursuing his passion for beekeeping.
In August 2022, Petro once again took up the defense of his homeland. He was the commander of the 3rd rifle platoon of the 1st rifle company.
45-year-old Petro Tsygankov was killed on July 5, 2024, near the village of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region while fulfilling his military duty.
His comrade "Major" recalls how Petro was transferred from another unit. In a year, he rose from a simple soldier to a platoon commander. He was remembered as an honest and brave person. There were no tasks he could not accomplish; he took on everything. He shared, "He died due to an enemy drone drop. Until morning, the occupiers continued to drop, not allowing for evacuation. We managed to do it the next day. There are few warriors like him."
Petro's sister, Kateryna, remembers: "He wanted to live, to return home above all. He was waiting for victory. He was very calm and a very kind person. He never offended anyone."
Petro is survived by his mother, wife, and daughter.
The team where Petro Tsygankov worked is deeply saddened and expresses sincere condolences to the family, wife, daughter, and loved ones of the Hero. We will remember our brave colleague, who, through his courage and determination, rose from soldier to commander and gave his life for the free future of Ukraine. Glory to the Hero through the ages!
