Roman KOZITSIN
Roman Kozytsin was born in the village of Lyutserna in the Zaporizhia region. He graduated from the local school and later enrolled in the Mykhailivsk Vocational College, specializing as a tractor driver and operator of agricultural machinery and equipment.
In 2015, Roman was drafted into military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2016, he began working on the railway as a shooter in the Dnipro detachment of the militarized security of the Dnipro Railway, later becoming a senior shooter. His colleagues remembered him as a diligent, proactive, and hardworking employee. Roman was not afraid to make independent decisions and earned the respect and authority among his peers. In the absence of the section chief, despite his young age, he faithfully performed his duties.
The day after the war began, on February 24, 2022, Roman Kozytsin, without hesitation, went to defend his homeland from the enemy. He served as a mortar man in the 15th Brigade "Kara-Dah." During his two and a half years of military service, he was wounded twice. Unfortunately, his third injury proved to be fatal.
Roman died on July 4, 2024, as a result of enemy shelling near the village of Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhia region. He passed away just a month shy of his 30th birthday.
He is survived by his wife Olena, whom he married in 2023.
Roman was laid to rest in his hometown of Lyutserna.
The team of the Dnipro detachment of militarized security is deeply saddened and extends heartfelt condolences to his wife Olena, family, and loved ones of Roman Kozytsin. From the very first day of the great war, he stood up to defend his homeland, which attests to his indomitable spirit. The memory of our devoted colleague, who became a Hero, will live on in our railway family forever. Honor to the Hero!
