Yevheniy Khmara

Yevhen was born in the village of Nechaiivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. Since 2010, he worked as a track layer in the Polohy track distance. In February 2022, due to his responsibility, diligence, and hard work, he was promoted to the position of foreman for current maintenance and repair of the track.

In June 2022, Yevhen took up arms to defend his homeland. He underwent training and was assigned to an airborne platoon. He served as a squad commander in the 46th Separate Air Assault Brigade. His unit bravely defended Ukraine, first in the Kherson direction and then near Soledar.

33-year-old Junior Sergeant Yevhen Khmara was killed on January 7, 2023, near Soledar in Donetsk region during enemy shelling.

For his bravery, he was awarded the Order of Courage III degree.

Yevhen is survived by his wife Yevhenia, son Artem, and daughter Varvara.

The team at the Polohy track distance of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns deeply and proudly honors their colleague. His selflessness and the immense loss for his wife and two small children remind us of our eternal duty to remember the price of freedom. Eternal memory!
