Denys Cherednyak
Denys was born on February 18, 2003, in the town of Okny (formerly known as Krasni Okny) in the Odesa region. Later, his family moved to the city of Podilsk, which became his true home. Here, in 2018, he graduated from secondary school No. 9 (now Lyceum No. 1) and continued his education at the Odesa Maritime Transport Vocational College. In June 2021, he successfully mastered the profession of motorist-engineer and manual gas welder.
In August 2021, Denys began his career as a second-class locksmith for rolling stock repair in the current repair shop (PR-1) at the "Podilsk Locomotive Depot" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." In a short time, he proved to be an exceptionally diligent, responsible, and promising worker. His colleagues remembered him as a sincere, kind, and reliable young man, always ready to lend a helping hand.
By November 2021, Denys was released from work due to being drafted for compulsory military service. When the full-scale invasion began, the 19-year-old did not hesitate to take up arms to defend his homeland. On June 21, 2022, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His choice became a model of high patriotism, fearlessness, and honor.
On January 18, 2024, while carrying out a complex combat mission to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine near the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region, Denys was killed. He gave the most precious thing—his life—remaining true to his military oath and the Ukrainian people until his last breath.
The young Hero is survived by his parents and family, for whom this loss has become an indescribable, incurable pain.
The team at the "Podilsk Locomotive Depot," a branch of the "Locomotive Company" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia," expresses its sincerest and deepest condolences to Denys Cheredniak's family and loved ones. We share your great sorrow, bow our heads in deep mourning, and pay tribute to the young warrior. The bright memory of our colleague and Hero will forever live in our hearts.
Eternal memory and honor to the Defender of Ukraine!
