Andriy PODPLOTNYI
Andriy was born in the village of Starovolodymyrivka in the Kharkiv region and lived in the town of Paniutine. After obtaining a qualification as a builder, he joined the railway in 2011 as a painter of the 3rd category, and later mastered the profession of a repair locksmith for rolling stock of the 3rd category, working in the wagon repair shop.
On March 11, 2022, Andriy enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a rifleman-assistant grenade launcher in the 229th separate battalion of the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade in the Zaporizhzhia direction. Andrii was wounded twice (shrapnel wound near Bakhmut and blast injury), but each time he returned to defend his homeland after treatment.
The 32-year-old soldier Andriy Podplotnyi died on September 29, 2023, in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
Friends remember Andriy as a caring person who approached his work responsibly and actively participated in the community life of the shop. To his family, he was a loving husband and a caring father.
Andriy is survived by his wife and two minor children.
The team of the wagon repair shop at JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows its heads in deep sorrow and respect in memory of Andriy Podplotnyi. His courage, unwavering spirit, and dedication to his homeland will forever be our unyielding symbol. Eternal memory and glory to the Hero!
