Andrii Zinich
On October 30, 2024, during a combat mission near the village of Daryino in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region, railway worker of the Lyman Directorate and defender of Ukraine Andrii was killed. The warrior fell in battle for the freedom and independence of his homeland, fulfilling his duty to the Motherland until his last breath. He was 39 years old.
Andrii was born on March 2, 1985, in the city of Krasny Lyman (now Lyman) in Donetsk region, where he lived his entire life until the onset of the full-scale aggression by the enemy. In March 2005, he tied his fate to the steel tracks, starting his career as a 3rd category locksmith in the mechanization shop.
Throughout his years of dedicated service on the railway, Andrii established himself as a diligent, hardworking, and proactive specialist. He was a person with a big heart and unwavering character—always setting clear goals, confidently moving forward, and not afraid of difficulties. For his colleagues, he was not just a reliable employee but a sincere friend who never turned a blind eye to others' pain and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
On September 9, 2024, Andrii made his conscious ideological choice—he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect his family and homeland from invaders.
During intense fighting in the Kursk direction, communication with him was lost. For nearly two years, his family, comrades, and colleagues lived in anxiety, caught between uncertainty and hope, believing in the return of their defender. However, after conducting the necessary identification procedures, official confirmation arrived: Andrii was killed on that fateful autumn day in 2024.
The fallen Hero is survived by his wife, son, and parents.
The team of the Lyman Railway Directorate of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns this irreparable loss and expresses sincere condolences to Andrii's wife, son, parents, and loved ones. Thank you for our freedom, our Defender. You will forever remain in our memory as smiling, strong, genuine, and unbreakable.
Rest in peace, Hero!
