Bohdan ISHCHUK
Bogdan was born in the city of Koziatyn in the Vinnytsia region. He studied at the local school No. 2 and later at a railway vocational school, training as an assistant locomotive driver for diesel and electric locomotives, as well as a mechanic for rolling stock repair. Since 2020, he worked on the railway at the Koziatyn locomotive depot of the regional branch of the "South-Western Railway" as an assistant driver of an electric locomotive. At the same time, he studied part-time at the Kyiv University of Railway Transport.
Bogdan loved sports and spent every free hour at the stadium; he was the champion of the Vinnytsia region in kyokushin karate.
The 20-year-old soldier of the National Guard of Ukraine, Bohdan Ishchuk, was killed on March 31, 2022, near the city of Rubizhne in the Luhansk region.
"Bogdan was a wonderful guy, polite, respected in the team, always offered his help. An athlete, an excellent student, the life of the party, reliable, and simply a great guy," his friends and colleagues remember him.
On November 24, 2020, Bogdan was mobilized into the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine. He served as a senior shooter in the infantry battalion. After taking the oath, he was transferred to the city of Rubizhne, where he served as a senior shooter in the first patrol platoon.
The hero's father recounted: "The last time we spoke, my son said: 'Dad, we have already gotten used to the mortars and cannons. The enemy aviation is really bothering us... But overall, everything is fine, we have food.'"
Bogdan was awarded the medal "Combatant" and posthumously the Order of Courage, III degree.
He is survived by his parents and brother.
