Bohdan TKACHENKO
Bogdan was born in the village of Haivoron in the Chernihiv region and lived in the city of Nizhyn. In 2013, he graduated from the Polytechnic College of the Konotop Institute of Sumy State University with a degree in "Construction, Maintenance, and Repair of Railway Tracks." He worked on the railway, initially as a track layer and later promoted to the position of a foreman (dismissed) for the current maintenance and repair of tracks and artificial structures of the 6th category in the Nizhyn track maintenance unit.
On February 24, 2022, Bogdan left Nizhyn with his sister's family to go to his parents' home in the village of Haivoron. On February 26, 2022, a Russian military convoy moved through the village, and the enemies fired at residential buildings and looted shops.
On March 23, the occupiers detained Bogdan and several other men. They were held in storage facilities and forced to cooperate. When it became clear that the men would not agree, they were released. On March 31, Bogdan and a neighbor were detained again, placed in a basement, and soon executed… The bodies of the men were found on the outskirts of the village.
The life of 28-year-old railway worker Bogdan Tkachenko was cut short by enemy fire on April 1, 2022.
Bogdan loved fishing and hunting, was passionate about technology—from motorcycles to combines. He dreamed of traveling. Colleagues remember Bogdan as cheerful, compassionate, and decent, with many friends across Ukraine, earning the respect of his coworkers.
Bogdan was unmarried and is survived by his sister.
The team at the Nizhyn track maintenance unit of the regional branch "South-Western Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns the tragic and brutal death of their colleague, Bogdan Tkachenko. He was a cheerful, decent track foreman who was passionate about technology and travel. His peaceful life was cut short as a result of being shot by the occupiers after refusing to cooperate in his native Chernihiv region. We express our sincere condolences to his sister. Eternal memory to the innocent victim of aggression!
