Dmytro Honcharuk
Dmytro was born in Koziatyn. He graduated from a railway vocational school, obtaining the profession of a locomotive driver. In September 2018, he began working at the Koziatyn locomotive depot as a repair mechanic for rolling stock. His experience in the railway industry amounted to 5 years.
In July 2020, the young man completed his mandatory military service in Donetsk region, gaining the status of a combatant. After the onset of the full-scale invasion, Dmytro was called up to defend his homeland. He served in a marine infantry battalion.
23-year-old soldier Dmytro Honcharuk was killed on August 8, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the vicinity of the settlement of Urozhayne in Donetsk region. His body was identified through DNA after several months during which he was considered missing in action.
Friends remember Dmytro as a true patriot, brave and sincere. He took on the toughest tasks first, was honorable, determined, and always offered his reliable shoulder to those in need of help—a true comrade and friend.
Dmytro is survived by his mother, father (who has been defending us in the Bakhmut direction since August 2022), younger brother Anatoliy, and grandparents.
