Dmytro Kostiuk

Dmytro Stepanovych Kostiuk, a dedicated track worker and a warrior by calling, tragically lost his life on February 12, 2026. He was a person of principled civic stance, who from the very first months of the great war stood up to defend his native land. Dmytro passed away while fulfilling his official duties in the Zhytomyr region, leaving behind a bright memory and undying respect.

Professional Path in the "Iron Family"
Dmytro dedicated his work to a strategically important area—the maintenance of railway infrastructure. He worked as a 3rd category track worker in the production structural unit "Ternopil Track Distance" of the regional branch "Lviv Railway."

Colleagues remember Dmytro as an extraordinarily honest and reliable person. He was known on the railway as a conscientious specialist who understood the importance of every detail in ensuring the safety of movement. His optimism and cheerfulness often became a support for the entire team during difficult working days.

With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Dmytro Stepanovych did not hesitate for a moment. On April 10, 2022, he joined the ranks of defenders of Ukraine.

For nearly four years, he bravely defended the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state. Behind him are hundreds of days of service and loyalty to his comrades.

The life of the Hero was cut short as a result of a traffic accident near the settlement of Berezivka in the Zhytomyr region while performing his official duty.

For all who knew Dmytro, he will forever remain a person with a sincere smile. Comrades and friends say that his faith in victory and innate sense of justice inspired those around him even in the darkest times.

The greatest pain is that Dmytro left behind a wife and a small daughter, who was recently born. He fought for her future, for a peaceful sky above her cradle.

The team of the Ternopil Track Distance of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses its deepest condolences to the family, relatives, and friends of Dmytro Kostiuk. We bow our heads before the courage of our colleague. His name is forever inscribed in the history of our struggle.
