Edgars KIMENE-KIMELIS
Edgars was born in the city of Yevpatoria, Autonomous Republic of Crimea. In December 2010, he began working as a track layer at the Kryvyi Rih track division, where his father also worked. In civilian life, he was passionate about football and achieved prize-winning places in the railway team.
Edgars, whose veins carried half Ukrainian and half Latvian blood, was a true patriot of Ukraine. He participated in the ATO in 2014–2015, and on February 25, 2022, he rejoined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a grenade launcher in an infantry unit. His father recalls that he was a determined, combat-ready young man who "wanted and knew how to fight." Before his death, Edgars was wounded twice and suffered three concussions.
32-year-old Edgars Kimene-Kimelis was killed on October 19, 2022, during an offensive near the village of Pyatykhatky in the Kherson region.
His father, Edvins Visvaldovich, emphasizes: "He died in battle, like a true warrior."
Edgars is survived by his father Edvins Visvaldovich, wife Maria, and son Edvins.
The team at the Kryvyi Rih track division of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors the exceptional bravery of their colleague with great respect. He died as a true grenade launcher. His fighting spirit and unwavering patriotism serve as a source of pride for the entire railway family. Eternal Glory to the Hero!
