Gennady Petrovich Redko was born in the village of Vapnyarka, Tomashpil District, Vinnytsia Region.

He began his career at the Railway Machine Station No. 128 of the Odesa Railway in 1995 as a track fitter. In 1995, he was promoted to the position of operator of railway construction machines. Since 2019, he continued his work at the Vapnyarska Railway Machine Station, a structural unit of the "Center for Construction and Repair of Tracks" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." In 2000, for achieving high performance indicators and on the occasion of the professional holiday – Railway Workers' Day, he was awarded a monetary prize. He had 28 years of experience in the railway sector and worked as an operator of railway construction machines of the 6th grade.

In 2023, Gennady voluntarily took up the defense of his homeland, serving in the ground forces.

In 2024, he was wounded three times while carrying out combat missions to defend his homeland in the Donetsk region.

He died from a fatal wound on August 22, 2024, at the age of 47, while performing a combat task, remaining true to his military oath, demonstrating resilience and courage in the vicinity of the settlement of Hryhorivka in the Bakhmut District of Donetsk Region.

He was awarded the "Brigade Badge of the 56th Brigade," the medal "For Courage and Patriotism," and the "War Veteran" medal.

His colleagues describe him as positive, responsible, goal-oriented, balanced, humane, and with a big kind heart. He always tried to help everyone. His motto was: "Better to die standing than to live on your knees." Gennady was a loving husband and father.

Gennady Petrovich Redko will be remembered by people as a bright and kind individual. Colleagues and friends knew him as a diligent and responsible worker, a reliable friend, and an exceptionally positive person who always worked on improving his professional skills and was very responsible and demanding of himself.

Gennady is survived by his wife, son, and two daughters.

The team at the Vapnyarska Railway Machine Station deeply mourns this irreparable loss. Our colleague and hero, Gennady Petrovich, will forever remain in our hearts as an example of courage and selflessness. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and hero!
