Ihor Shcherbak

Ihor lived in the town of Oleksiyivka-Druzhkivka in the Donetsk region and graduated from the Sloviansk Railway Transport Technical School. He dedicated nearly 30 years of his life to the railway, working as a foreman in the wagon management service (VChD Kostiantynivka). Igor was remembered by his colleagues as a wise, experienced, responsible, and hardworking employee.

He loved life, had a cheerful disposition, was passionate about football, and played musical instruments. His daughter Svitlana noted that he received the call sign "Musician" at the front, as the guitar was his constant companion during peacetime.

On January 31, 2023, Ihor was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he served as a machine gunner. In February 2023, he was wounded, but despite this, he returned to his comrades, continuing to defend Ukraine.

50-year-old Junior Sergeant Ihor Shcherbak tragically lost his life on April 27, 2023, while performing a combat mission in the village of Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region.

For his bravery and heroism, he was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree.

Ihor is survived by his wife and daughter.

The team of the wagon management service (VChD Kostiantynivka) of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" honors the memory of Igor Shcherbak. His courage and diligence will remain a model for future generations. Eternal memory to the railway worker!
