Ihor VERIK
Ihor was born in Volnovakha. He graduated from the Volnovakha Vocational Technical School. He worked as a train dispatcher at the Volnovakha station depot.
36-year-old Igor Verik adored his daughters and wife, engaged in sports, and went to the gym. He was a master at making barbecues—this was his hobby that brought him joy and additional income for the family.
On March 1, 2022, Igor's life was cut short due to shelling in the city of Volnovakha in the Donetsk region while he was in the yard of his own home.
"Ihor was a loving father and husband. He was always responsible, fair, determined, and honest at work. It’s hard to believe that our Verik is no longer with us," his colleagues reflect.
"‘Verik’—that’s how everyone affectionately called my Igor. He was a loving husband whom I could always rely on. I never doubted that he would always be by my side, supporting and protecting me. He was an incredible dad who adored his girls. They would run to him with all their questions, problems, and wishes, and he always solved everything, making their childhood happy. Igor was a grateful son who always helped his parents, a loyal friend who would never betray, and an incredibly honest, sincere, and kind person who brought light into this life," recalls his wife, Irina.
Ihor is survived by his wife and two daughters.
The team at the locomotive depot of the Volnovakha station, part of the regional branch of "Donetsk Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia," deeply mourns this tragic and senseless loss. We extend our condolences to Igor's family, who was our bright and kind person. The memory of our colleague and innocent victim of Russian aggression will be eternal.
