Ilya VASILISHCHENKO
Ilya was born and lived in the city of Kremenchuk, Poltava region. In 2022, he graduated from the Kremenchuk Vocational College of Transport Infrastructure and immediately began working as a fourth-grade wagon inspector-repairman at the Kremenchuk wagon depot.
He was calm, hardworking, friendly, and attentive. From the age of 12, Ilya actively participated in the Young Paratroopers Club, where he won first places in assembling and disassembling a rifle and shooting. He dreamed of jumping with a parachute.
On May 8, 2023, Ilya, consciously choosing the path of a warrior, signed a contract to serve in the ranks of the legendary 3rd Assault Brigade "Azov."
20-year-old soldier Ilya VASILISHCHENKO, with the call sign "Malysh," was killed on July 31, 2023, near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.
Ilya died while covering his assault group of comrades. As his sister recounted, he and his comrade "Khotabych" took enemy fire upon themselves, thereby saving the lives of their fellow soldiers. His comrades remembered him as a man of his word, courage, and an example of resilience.
Ilya is survived by his mother, father, and brother. He did not have time to start his own family.
