Ivan DEDUSHKOV
Ivan graduated from Znamianka Secondary School No. 4. He studied at Vocational Technical School No. 12. Later, he began working on the railway at the Znamianka locomotive depot as an electric locomotive driver. Colleagues recall that he was a responsible and diligent worker, a good friend, and was respected and valued in the team.
“Ivan was the trade union group leader of the column,” says instructor-driver Kostiantyn Kryzhanivskyi. “He was always smiling. If needed, he would come to the depot without being called twice. In short, he worked from the heart. He also organized cultural events in the rest area. ‘My house is on the edge’... that definitely wasn’t him.”
In September 2020, Ivan enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine under a contract. He served as a senior mechanic-driver in a mechanized unit.
35-year-old Senior Soldier Ivan Diedushkov was killed on March 5, 2022. The column, which included 25 soldiers, was hit by enemy Grad missiles in the village of Voronovo, Luhansk region. These guys shielded their comrades and effectively saved three subsequent columns. Ivan was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage III degree.
Ivan is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
The team at the Znamianka locomotive depot of the regional branch of "Odesa Railway" JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns this irreparable loss and expresses sincere condolences to the Hero's family. Ivan Diedushkov will forever remain an example of courage, selflessness, and humanity for us. Eternal memory and glory to the Defender who saved his comrades at the cost of his own life!
