Ivan Martych
Ivan was born in the village of Lanivka in the Lviv region into a large family, being the eldest son. He grew up calm, obedient, and cheerful. He studied at the Lanivka and Nezhukhiv schools, and later at Vocational College No. 35.
In April 2021, Ivan began working on the railway as a watchman for the maintenance and operation of buildings and structures at the Stryi station of the "Center for Construction and Installation Works and Operation of Buildings and Structures" branch.
After the Revolution of Dignity and the Maidan, Ivan served in the border troops in Transcarpathia.
With the onset of the full-scale war, despite health issues, Ivan voluntarily went to the military enlistment office and expressed his desire to defend Ukraine. Initially, he was refused, but after some time, he was called up to the army. He served as a private in the 1st Anti-Tank Artillery Division.
Soldier Ivan Martych was killed on April 10, 2022, during military operations in the village of Stepne in the Popasna district of the Luhansk region. He was forever 43 years old.
Posthumously, soldier Ivan Martych was awarded the Order of Courage III degree and the Order of the Hero's Cross. He was buried in his hometown of Lanivka.
Ivan was divorced and is survived by his brother Mykola.
