Ivan Tolkachov
Ivan was born in the village of Shyroka Dacha in the Dnipropetrovsk region. He received education as an electric gas welder. In December 2020, he joined the railway as a train dispatcher, and from 2021, he worked as a 4th-grade electric gas welder at the Baturyn operational wagon depot.
Ivan had combat experience, having participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). On April 12, 2023, he rejoined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving in the National Guard as a senior master of the technical support group of the communications platoon. Ivan's fate was tragic: during combat operations, he fell into an ambush and, despite severe injuries and being transported to a rear hospital, he died.
The 40-year-old soldier Ivan Tolkachov was killed on September 6, 2023, from severe wounds sustained while performing a combat mission near the city of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Ivan was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.
His mother, Halyna Fedorivna, recalls that Ivan "knocked on the door of the military enlistment office," eager to defend his homeland. He was hardworking, helped greatly with household chores, and loved cars. In his honor, a memorial plaque has been installed at his native school in Kryvyi Rih.
The fallen defender is survived by his mother Halyna Fedorivna and his daughter Oleksandra.
The team at the Baturyn operational wagon depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" pays tribute to Ivan Tolkachov with great sorrow. His uncompromising desire to defend the country and his great sacrifice will forever be an example for us. Eternal memory to the Hero!
