Ivan ZAKHARCHUK

Ivan was born in the city of Zhytomyr. In 2011, he joined the railway, where he progressed from a cargo receiver to the station master of Kroshnya at the Korosten Railway Transport Directorate. He dedicated 12 years of his life to the railway. In 2019, his work was recognized with a Watch from the Chairman of the Board of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia."

On June 29, 2022, Ivan voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving in the mechanized troops.

Ivan was killed on September 13, 2022, as a true patriot and brave warrior, defending the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine while carrying out a combat mission in the Kherson direction.

Colleagues remember him as a kind, calm, intelligent, and balanced worker who was not afraid of difficulties and skillfully accomplished any tasks. In his free time, he enjoyed crafting, dreamed of traveling, and building his own house, but his dreams were taken away by the war.

Ivan was a loving husband and father. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Ivan is survived by his wife, son, and mother.

The team of the Korosten Railway Transport Directorate of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns the irreparable loss. The station master, who was a humane, wise leader and a "jack of all trades" in everyday life, went to the front as a volunteer and gave his life. His courage, sincerity, and shattered dreams of a home and travels are our shared loss. Honor and glory to the Hero!
