Leonid Kozyrev
Leonid lived in the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, which fell under occupation at the beginning of the war. He worked as a 4th category locksmith in the emergency recovery department of the water supply section at the Kupiansk station of the BMES branch.
Leonid actively participated in ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the water supply systems in Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi. On September 21, 2022, he went to work to help restore water supply after another shelling and never returned home.
The body of 45-year-old Leonid Kozyrev was found tortured on October 5, 2022, at the territory of the Kupiansk Silicate Plant. Russian soldiers had held him captive, tortured him, and killed him. Signs of torture were found on his body, and his hands were tied behind his back.
Colleagues remember Leonid as a disciplined, qualified, polite, and proactive worker who was well-respected. His family describes him as a caring, resourceful person and a good father. He dreamed of educating and raising his children, but his dreams were not meant to come true.
Leonid was buried on November 14, 2022, in the city of Kupiansk.
Leonid is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
