The community and brotherhood have suffered an irreparable loss. At the age of 45, while saving wounded comrades under heavy enemy fire, the brave warrior, junior sergeant, and man with a big heart — Mykhailo Shmid — lost his life.

Mykhailo was born in the city of Horodok, where he spent his childhood and youth. His fight for a free Ukraine began back in 2015. For two years, he defended the Donetsk and Luhansk directions as part of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade.

With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Mykhailo unhesitatingly returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He could not stand aside when danger threatened his family and homeland:

He served in the Volyn direction as part of an artillery brigade. Due to the escalation of the situation in the East, he was transferred to the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade.

Mykhailo chose one of the toughest and noblest roles — he became a junior sergeant, a shooter-paramedic in the assault battalion.

On August 30, 2023, Mykhailo's future was taken by a Russian artillery shell. This occurred while performing a combat mission to evacuate wounded soldiers in the vicinity of the village of Andriivka in the Bakhmut district. Until his last breath, Mykhailo remained true to his oath, saving the lives of those who stood shoulder to shoulder with him.

Outside the battlefield, Mykhailo was sincere, open, and extraordinarily devoted to his family and friends. He will be remembered as a person who knew how to appreciate the simple joys of life:

For friends — "Chayka": a masterful fisherman who always knew the secret to the best fish soup.

For comrades — "Bober": a reliable battle buddy whose courage knew no bounds.

For family: a beloved husband and father, who was their main support.

"He was devoted in everything: to his work, his family, and his country. Such people are not forgotten — their deeds become part of our history."

We express our deepest condolences to Mykhailo Ludvikovych's wife, son, relatives, and close ones. We share your pain and bow our heads in deep respect.

Eternal memory to the Hero! Glory to Ukraine!
