Mykhailo Hryhorovych Utyeshev, a veteran of the railway industry and a brave defender of Ukraine, died on October 10, 2024, while defending the territorial integrity of our state. His life was cut short as a result of enemy mortar shelling near the settlement of Pavlivka in the Donetsk region. He gave his all for our freedom, forever becoming part of the heavenly ranks.

Mykhailo was born on January 31, 1975, in the city of Izium, Kharkiv region. His journey in the "iron family" began back in 1995. For nearly three decades—29 years—he dedicated himself to the Izium railway distance, working as a third-class trackman.

A master of his craft and the soul of the team
To his colleagues, Mykhailo was not just an employee but a true support.

He was valued for his discipline, responsibility, and the many years of experience he willingly shared.

Polite, sincere, and always ready to help—this is how he will be remembered by railway workers. His wonderful sense of humor often provided comfort during difficult working days.

A life filled with light and music
Mykhailo was a person with an open soul and many talents. His sister, Tetiana, remembers him as an honest and calm brother who knew how to create warmth around him.

He played the guitar and sang, filling the lives of his loved ones with melodies. In his youth, he was seriously engaged in football at the Izium Youth Sports School, preserving his love for sports and strong friendships for life.

He never shied away from household work, always supporting his family with deeds and kind words. Even from the front lines, despite all the horrors of war, he consistently reassured his loved ones with a brief, "I’m doing well," remaining an optimist until his last breath.

On March 5, 2024, Mykhailo Hryhorovych consciously chose the path of a warrior, joining the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served with honor and dignity, defending his homeland in one of the most challenging areas—Donetsk. His faith in victory and a peaceful future for Ukraine was unwavering.

Mykhailo is survived by his sister.

The team of the Izium railway distance of the regional branch "Southern Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" bows its head in deep sorrow and pain in memory of Mykhailo Utyeshev. We have lost not just a specialist, but a true Hero, an example of courage and indomitable spirit. His dedication to his homeland and the railway will forever be etched in our hearts.

May his memory be bright and his honor eternal!
