Mykola KOROTUN
65-year-old Mykola Korotun was killed during enemy shelling on October 1, 2024, in his own home.
Mykola was born in Krasnoarmiysk, Donetsk region. He lived in the city of Pokrovsk. He graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Technical School of Automation and Telemechanics, obtaining a qualification as an electrical technician. He worked on the railway for 42 years, of which 5 were spent in retirement. He was an electromechanic in the second group section of the Pokrovsk signaling and communication distance of the regional branch "Donetsk Railway."
Mykola Pavlovych was passionate about amateur radio. He had specialized equipment that allowed him to maintain radio contact with fellow enthusiasts from around the world.
"Mykola Pavlovych was a master of his craft, as evidenced by his many years of service at one workplace. He always performed his duties on time and with quality. He was a positive and energetic person," his colleagues recall.
"Dad was a very kind and sincere person, always ready to lend a helping hand in any situation. He was a happy grandfather to two granddaughters, always playing with my daughters and adoring them. He loved life and his work. Despite being retired, he continued to work and engage in his favorite activities. He also took care of the household, had his own garden, and was a true master of his home. It's hard to believe that just yesterday I spoke to him on the phone, and today he is no longer with us. This is a heavy loss for all of us," said his son Viktor.
Mykola Pavlovych is survived by two adult sons and two granddaughters.
The railway family deeply mourns this irreparable loss. We express our heartfelt condolences to Mykola Pavlovych's family and loved ones. The bright memory of our colleague and railway hero, who died defending his home, will live on forever.
