Mykola Levytskyi

The Korosten Railway Community and all of Ukraine have lost an experienced specialist, a brave warrior, a loving husband, and a father who gave his life in the fight for the independence of his homeland.

Mykola Andriyovych was born on December 19, 1971, in the city of Korosten, Zhytomyr region. Here he lived his life, obtained incomplete higher education, and found his professional calling. In 2000, he joined the large "iron family," starting his journey as a 3rd-grade rolling stock repair mechanic, and later became an assistant locomotive driver.

For over a quarter of a century—25 years—Mykola Andriyovych dedicated himself to railway transport at the production unit "Korosten Locomotive Depot" of the "Locomotive Company" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." Locomotive crew instructor Mykhailo Ivanchенко recalls him fondly: "A good, kind, empathetic, modest person. He was very responsible at work." Mykola had undeniable authority among his colleagues due to his diligence, modesty, and reliability.

In peaceful life, he was a caring host. Neighbor and colleague from the depot Viktor Halytskyi recalls that Mykola loved working the land, was passionate about farming, and had a particular fondness for growing currants, to which he devoted his free time.

During the full-scale enemy invasion, on July 27, 2023, Mykola Andriyovych joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in military unit A4773, part of the 31st Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General-Horunzhy Leonid Stupnytskyi of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the front, he proved to be a brave and devoted warrior, setting an example for his comrades as he valiantly defended his homeland from the occupiers.

On March 24, 2024, while performing his military duty near the settlement of Kostiantynivka in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region, the defender's life was cut short by a treacherous enemy mortar shelling. He remained faithful to his military oath and the Ukrainian people until his last breath.

For his family, Mykola was a reliable support, embodying warmth and love. The Hero is survived by his wife and two sons.
