Mykola Oprysk
Mykola was born in Lviv. He graduated from the Lviv Railway Transport Technical School. He worked on the railway for 13.5 years, serving as an electromechanic in the first group section of the Dnipro signaling and communication distance.
In 2014, Mykola was mobilized and participated in battles in eastern Ukraine, particularly in Mariupol, Donetsk region. After returning from the ATO in 2016, he continued working at the Lviv Railway, which he loved dearly. Due to family circumstances, in 2019 he moved to Dnipro, where he worked at the Dnipro Railway.
In March 2022, Mykola once again took up the defense of his homeland. He served as the commander of the gun of the 3rd self-propelled artillery battery of the self-propelled artillery division of the brigade artillery group.
32-year-old Senior Sergeant Mykola Oprysk was killed on March 19, 2022, in the Donetsk region.
He was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree.
His wife Hanna recalls: "Kolya was very gentle, soulful, and at the same time capable of decisive actions, brave to the point of recklessness. He didn’t tell me about his intention to volunteer for the front. In the morning, he headed to work as usual, and in the evening, he informed me that he was already at the military unit. ... Although courage was always part of him, in the everyday life of our one-and-a-half years together, it was hidden behind delicacy and kindness. Kolya loved animals, going to the movies and theater, walking along the Dnipro embankment and the park (especially in winter), and having calm and sincere conversations. But what drew my attention to him was primarily his reliability and the sense of security that arose whenever I was near him. ... I knew that now I was not alone; I had a husband-protector and comforter, a kindred spirit. It’s a pity that fate gave us so little time..."
Hanna, who had to leave Ilovaisk with their two children, recalls that she met Mykola through social media after a post about the Ilovaisk "cauldron," as he also participated in the ATO.
The team of the Dnipro signaling and communication distance of the regional branch "Dnipro Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns the loss of Senior Sergeant Mykola Oprysk. He was a true railway warrior who twice stood up to defend the country. Even behind his delicacy lay his courage and reliability, which became the meaning of life for his wife. We honor his heroism, dedication, and sacrifice in Donetsk. Eternal memory!
