Oleh CHORNOMORETS

Oleg Vasyliovych Chornomorets worked as a technician of the 2nd category in the production and technical department of the Korosten Railway Machine Station, a structural unit of the "Center for Railway Construction and Repair" of the joint-stock company "Ukrainian Railways." He dedicated 11 years of his life to the railway.

In 1986, he graduated from the Khmelnytsky Higher Artillery Command School. Until 1990, he served in the military. After being discharged, he worked on the railway in Korosten, Zhytomyr region.

In 2014, he served in the ATO zone. He was demobilized in April 2015.

In July 2016, he was mobilized and served in the Korosten Military Commissariat.

At the beginning of 2022, with the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was serving in the Mariupol direction. He held the rank of Major in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On March 9, 2022, he heroically died in battles near the village of Zachativka, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region, defending his homeland.

By the decree of the President of Ukraine dated February 23, 2023, No. 107/2023, "For personal courage and heroism displayed in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and selfless service to the Ukrainian people," he was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of "Golden Star."

His military path and dedication to the railway serve as a model for us all. His heroic death in the battles in Donetsk has secured him eternal glory and the Order of "Golden Star." We bow our heads before his feat. His memory is immortal.
