Oleksandr Bondaruk
With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Oleksandr, a locomotive engineer at the Lviv-West locomotive depot, volunteered to join the military alongside his brother. He served in the 125th Territorial Defense Brigade and later fought with the legendary 93rd and 95th Air Assault Brigades, holding back the enemy in the Bakhmut area. In February 2023, despite suffering from severe bronchitis and frostbite, he never once considered treatment and continued his service.
36-year-old Oleksandr Bondaruk was killed on April 5, 2023, sustaining fatal injuries while defending positions near the village of Kuzmine in the Luhansk region.
His family recalls that he was guided by "decency, honor, a desire for a better life, and a wish to see Ukraine free." He was awarded the "Sign of Honor" badge.
He is survived by his wife, two minor children, his mother (with a disability of the second group), and his younger brother (disabled due to injuries sustained at the front).
The team at the Lviv-West locomotive depot of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply bows to the courage of Oleksandr Bondaruk. His honor and unyielding will will forever serve as an example for us. Eternal Glory to the warrior!
