Olexandr HUZ
The railway family and the team of the Korosten region station service have suffered an irreparable loss. At the age of 56, while defending the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, our colleague, a brave warrior and patriot, Oleksandr Huz, lost his life.
Oleksandr was born in the village of Kirdany in the Zhytomyr region. In 2018, he tied his fate to the railway, starting his work as a 4th-grade wagon inspector-repairman at the Ovruch station (South-Western Railway). Over his 7 years of service, he established himself as an experienced specialist: he knew and loved his work, was always ready to help and share his knowledge. He was a disciplined, calm, and balanced worker, genuinely respected by his colleagues.
On May 21, 2024, Oleksandr exchanged his railway uniform for military camouflage, joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the reconnaissance troops. Even from the front lines, he found a moment to call his colleagues, inquire about affairs at the station, and share his plans for a peaceful future.
Unfortunately, on September 7, 2024, while performing a combat mission in the Dnipropetrovsk region, his life was cut short. Oleksandr gave the most precious thing for our freedom.
“He dreamed of a happy and peaceful life at home, but his duty to his homeland took precedence over his own plans…”
We express our deepest condolences to his wife, Valentyna Stepanivna, and to Oleksandr's relatives, friends, and loved ones.
The light memory of a good person and a brave warrior will forever remain in our hearts.
A low bow to the Hero! Eternal glory!
