Oleksandr LUKYANOVYCH
Oleksandr was born in the village of Postupel in Volyn. He worked as an electromechanic for the Rivne Electric Supply Division of "Ukrzaliznytsia."
33-year-old Oleksandr Lukyanovych was killed on February 25, 2022, in Kyiv Oblast. That day, Oleksandr, along with his tank crew, destroyed about thirty units of enemy equipment. Although the odds were uneven, the resistance and bravery of the Ukrainian fighters seemed to catch the invaders off guard. Enemy aviation attempted to prevent the ultimate failure of the blitz ground operation to capture Kyiv, but this attempt also proved futile. Unfortunately, Oleksandr Lukyanovych died as a result of a direct hit on his tank...
In 2021, he voluntarily enlisted in the military. In the army, Oleksandr mastered the profession of tank driver-mechanic, serving and fighting as part of the tank company of the 14th Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great. According to his comrades, it seemed that Oleksandr Lukyanovych was born a tank driver, as he skillfully operated the combat vehicle during training and later in real combat.
For his remarkable personal courage and heroism displayed in defense of Ukraine's state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for his loyalty to the Military Oath, Oleksandr Lukyanovych was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of "Gold Star."
"They say time heals. It's not true. I will never come to terms with the loss of my Sashko. Nor will I ever forgive the murderers of his death. They took not only a husband from me but also a son from his parents, a father from his children. Little Andriy, although he doesn’t remember his dad, I often show him his pictures, and he knows that this is his daddy. Our little daughter still draws pictures for him, and when we visit the cemetery, she leaves them on his grave. The pain of loss hasn’t subsided, but I must be strong for the sake of the children, and despite the challenges that come my way, I believe that everything will be alright. Because that’s what my Sashko said,” shared the Hero’s wife, Anna, in an interview.
Oleksandr is survived by his wife, daughter, and young son.
The team of the Rivne Electric Supply Division of the regional branch "Lviv Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns and bows its heads, sharing the indescribable pain of the family of Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Lukyanovych. We will remember him not only as a brave warrior but also as a responsible and sincere colleague. Eternal glory and honor to the Defender!
