Oleksandr MEDVEDENKO
Oleksandr was born in the city of Kotovsk, Odesa region, where he lived with his family. After graduating from school in 2005, he was drafted into military service.
Oleksandr began his career in the railway sector in 2017 as a locksmith-electrician, repairing electrical equipment of the 2nd category in the electrical workshop of the production unit "Podilsk Locomotive Depot" of the locomotive service of the regional branch "Odesa Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia." In 2018, he completed training and received the qualification of locksmith-electrician for repairing electrical equipment of the 3rd category.
During his time at work, he established himself as a diligent, responsible, and qualified employee, earning authority and respect within the team. Colleagues remember him as a reliable friend, always ready to help, and a true professional. He dedicated 2 years of his life to the railway and 3 years to defending his homeland from Russian aggression.
On August 20, 2019, he was released from the production unit "Podilsk Locomotive Depot" of the locomotive service of the regional branch "Odesa Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" and took up the defense of his homeland by signing a contract.
Oleksandr was killed while defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine during a combat mission on the first day of the war, February 24, 2022, as a result of an airstrike that hit the unit's command building.
We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. He is survived by his wife and two sons, and his parents are left without their beloved son.
The team of the production unit "Podilsk Locomotive Depot" of the "Locomotive Company" branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" deeply mourns this irreparable loss. Eternal memory and honor to our colleague and hero.
All who knew Oleksandr share the pain of this heavy loss. His name will forever be inscribed in history as that of a brave railway worker and a valiant Defender. May the earth rest lightly upon him, and may his heroism serve as an eternal beacon for future generations.
