10.01.1971 – 26.11.2024

Oleksandr Ihorovych was born on January 10, 1971, in the village of Vysoke, Zhytomyr region. In 2006, he tied his fate to steel railways, joining the large "iron family" as a track installer.

For over 18 years, Oleksandr Ihorovych tirelessly and devotedly worked in the production unit of the Zhytomyr track division of the regional branch "South-Western Railway," where he rose to the position of a 4th-grade track installer. Colleagues remember him as an extraordinarily kind, calm, intelligent, balanced, and hardworking person. He always performed his duties responsibly and diligently, distinguished himself with high professionalism, and quickly earned genuine respect and authority within the team.

On May 31, 2023, Oleksandr Ihorovych exchanged his civilian track tools for a military uniform and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Serving in the mechanized troops, he proved to be an example of courage, resilience, and dedication. For his comrades, he was a reliable shoulder and a faithful friend, bravely defending his homeland and giving a worthy resistance to the occupiers.

On November 26, 2024, during the execution of another complex combat mission to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the area of the settlement of Dalne (Delne) in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region, the life of the railway soldier tragically came to an end. He remained true to his military oath and the Ukrainian people until his last breath.

In civilian life, Oleksandr was a caring, gentle, and reliable support for his family. His wife remembers him as an extraordinarily loving husband and father. He sincerely dreamed of a peaceful future, longing to grow old beside his dearest ones and enjoy his grandchildren, but these bright dreams were brutally shattered by war.

Oleksandr Ihorovych is survived by his wife and two daughters, for whom his loss has become an unspeakable, profound pain.

The team of the Zhytomyr track division of the regional branch "South-Western Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" expresses its deepest and most sincere condolences to Oleksandr Piontkevych's wife, daughters, relatives, and comrades. We share this irreparable grief and bow our heads in sorrow before the heroism of our colleague. Eternal memory, everlasting glory, and honor to the Hero!

Eternal memory to the defender of Ukraine!
