Oleksandr TSEHELNYK
Oleksandr was born on September 27, 1975, in the village of Bilyky, Poltava region, and lived in the city of Poltava. He graduated from Poltava National University.
He began his career on the railway in December 2017 as a trackman. From February 2019, he worked as a train assembler and later as a dispatcher at the Seleshchyna railway station. Colleagues knew him as a qualified, technically savvy, and responsible worker—balanced, reserved, sincere, loyal, and a reliable friend.
In July 2020, Oleksandr signed a contract for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a combat vehicle commander and a squad leader in the 4th mechanized company. He died in battle for our homeland, faithful to his military oath.
46-year-old Senior Sergeant Oleksandr Tsehelnyk was killed on July 20, 2022, in combat near the settlement of Novoluhanske in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region as a result of a tank shelling of his unit's positions.
Oleksandr is survived by his mother and his partner.
The team of the Poltava Directorate of Railway Transportation of the regional branch "Southern Railway" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" mourns the memory of their colleague with deep sorrow. The dispatcher at Seleshchyna station, who was technically proficient and possessed high moral qualities, consciously chose the path of a contractor and became a combat vehicle commander. His heroic death under enemy tank fire in Donetsk is the highest price paid for our freedom. Honor and eternal memory to the faithful defender!
