Oleksiy HEIKO
Oleksiy Heiko was born and lived in the city of Smila in the Cherkasy region. He graduated from local school No. 10 and later served in the 95th Air Assault Brigade. In 2005, Oleksiy graduated from the Mykolaiv Railway Transport Technical School named after Academician V.M. Obraztsov. He worked on the railway as a senior electromechanic in the Shevchenkivskyi signaling and communication distance.
After the onset of the full-scale invasion, Oleksiy voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He completed a training program for Ukrainian military personnel based on the standards of the British Armed Forces called "Operation Interflex" and participated in battles in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk directions. He served as the commander of a platoon in the engineering-sapper company of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
37-year-old Junior Sergeant Oleksiy Heiko was killed on October 5, 2024, in Donetsk Oblast as a result of an enemy drone attack. He was buried at the Alley of Glory in his hometown.
Colleagues knew Oleksiy not only as an excellent specialist but also as a sincere, reliable friend and wise mentor who always offered his supportive shoulder. He was a strong support for his mother and sister, building plans for a happy future with his beloved girlfriend. He was deeply loved and respected by his friends.

Oleksiy is survived by his mother, sister, and beloved girlfriend. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
